Twenty years ago, on June 6, 2006, we quietly added something new to our website and began sharing it with the world. It wasn’t a product we planned to sell. It was a gift – a free, personal messaging app for anyone who simply wanted to stay close to the people they love.
Two decades later, that gift is still here. Today you know it as Chatox.
It started with a dream
Back in 1997, I discovered an online chat app for the first time and was amazed: in seconds, he could reach someone thousands of kilometers away. That spark never faded. Years later, I and my brother built Brosix, a professional messaging platform for businesses – but the original dream stayed alive: a simple, free chat app for everyday people.
So from the very first day of Brosix, we kept a free version for personal use. Fully funded by Brosix. Built on the same secure technology. Given freely, with no catch. In 2021, we gave that free version its own name and identity – and Chatox was born.
